From AAMP of America: No Static…No Clutter…Total Car Audio Integration

Clearwater, FL (July 28, 2008) – Face it, between the static and poor sound quality, using an FM transmitter to play an iPod® through your car stereo is disappointing at best. Similarly, aux-in cables typically deliver a weak audio signal and tend to clutter up your car’s interior. And, while most car manufacturers are putting some incredibly advanced, high quality audio and entertainment systems in vehicles, only a few come with built-in iPod docking stations. That’s why Peripheral Electronics® has introduced its Automotive Media Gateway: a revolutionary portable media integration solution that gives drivers the opportunity to interface their iPod or iPhone® directly to their vehicle – as well as anything from a GPS, to a satellite radio receiver, to HD Radio – while maintaining the look, feel and functionality of the original system.

The Automotive Media Gateway (called the PXAMG at specialty stores, and sold in kit form under the name iSimple® at national chains like Best Buy®) expands the audio and entertainment capabilities of most late-model car, truck or SUV stereo systems by delivering digital quality sound directly from any model of iPod, including the iPhone. Using a vehicle’s original radio controls (even steering wheel controls), drivers can browse music by playlist, artist or genre with song, artist and album text through the factory display. And, unlike similar audio accessories, the PXAMG retains the functionality of factory-installed satellite radio, rear-seat entertainment controls and key driver convenience features.

Peripheral Media Gateway Key Features:

  • Allows users to browse by playlist, artist, album or genre using the vehicle’s original factory controls – even steering wheel controls.
  • Displays iPod information and HD Radio using the factory radio’s display.
  • Keeps iPod or iPhone charged and ready to go.
  • Does not interfere with factory installed satellite radio or backseat video entertainment systems.
  •  Installs neatly behind the dash so there are no unsightly wires or power cables cluttering up the vehicle’s interior.
  • Connects directly to the radio to provide digital quality, static free audio.

According to Ron Freeman, CEO of Peripheral Electronics parent company, AAMP of America™, “Right now, manufacturers are putting some incredibly advanced, high quality sound systems in vehicles straight out of the factory. Because of this, more and more people are looking to expand their original system to incorporate today’s portable music and media players. The Peripheral Media Gateway gives them this opportunity at a great value.”

The Peripheral currently offers Media Gateway applications and iSimple kits that work with factory systems in most late model Acura, BMW, Buick, Cadillac, Chevrolet, Ford, GMC, Honda, Hummer, Isuzu, Lexus, Lincon, Mercury, Mini, Oldsmobile, Pontiac, Saturn, Scion, Toyota and Volkswagen vehicles.

Additionally, the PXAMG can be upgraded with a Peripheral HD Radio Tuner (HDRT) to offer consumers static-free, CD-quality audio, as well as access to extra radio channels that a standard receiver can’t pick up – all without any subscription fees or contracts. The HDRT offer listeners innovative digital FM channels, crystal-clear digital sound on both the AM and FM dial, and scrolling text from their current local AM and FM radios stations.  Across the country, there more than 1,700 digital HD Radio stations plus more than 800 new HD Radio channels.

Peripheral HD Radio Tuner Key Features:

  • iTunes® Tagging, a new feature that enables consumers using HD Radio receivers equipped with a special Tag button to download and buy songs they hear on HD Radio stations via iTunes.
  • HD2 multicast channels, which dramatically expand the amount and diversity of radio content by allowing multiple channels of programming to be broadcast over a single FM frequency.
  • Static-free, crystal-clear reception on both AM and FM: CD-quality sound on FM; FM-stereo quality sound on AM.
  • Data services, such as text information, e.g., artist names and song titles.

If iPod integration and HD Radio weren’t enough, iSimple also lets you interface nearly any type of audio source directly to your factory stereo. The aux-in style 3.5mm jack and RCA cable input allow you to listen to music in your car, truck or SUV from mp3 players, satellite radios and even laptop computers, with crystal clarity sound. Additionally, you can connect audio sources like portable GPS, DVD players and video game systems to your car radio quickly and easily. The result is a single interface for individuals whose on-the-go lifestyle is driven by a growing number of portable electronics devices.
