From iChannel & Bonneville: iCHANNEL ANNOUNCES i-FEST 2008
ST. LOUIS – iChannel and Bonneville International Corporation recently announced their first-ever “i-FEST” – a concert event for independent music artists and fans –on Saturday, August 16, 2008 at the Family Arena in St. Charles.
i-FEST 2008 will feature a line-up of 12 Independent Artists from the St. Louis region currently featured on iChannel.fm and the iChannel HD Radio Network. This show is also headlining a special reunion of “Greenwheel”.
Other featured Artists include “Tomorrow’s Rumor”, “Northside's Sweet Revenge”, “Building Rome”, “Ocean Rivals”, ”Walk Sophie”, ”Go Van Gogh”, “The Feed”, “Standpointe”, “The Marquette Weekend” and the winners of the i-FEST battle-of-the-band competitions at The Pit in St. Charles and Cruisin’ Route 66- “Raising Kane” and “Arythma.”
One of the biggest highlights of pre i-FEST events were the “Battle of the Bands” competitions to fill the last two spots on the bill, chosen by popular ballot and a panel of judges at each of the shows.
The dates and locations for the “Battle of the Bands” competition series were as follows:
Cruisin’ Route 66 Bar and Grill, located at 7895 Watson Road in Webster Groves. Three to four bands played each show, vying to reach the final battle and the eleventh slot at i-FEST. On Friday, August 1st 2008 Cruisin’ Route 66 held the final show where the winning band was chosen from among the finalists by fan balloting. The winning band was “Arythma.”
The dates of the Cruisin’ Route 66 shows were:
- Monday, July 14
- Tuesday, July 15
- Monday, July 28
- Tuesday, July 29
- Friday, August 1st– FINAL Battle – for eleventh slot at i-FEST
The Pit, located at 1860 Scherer Parkway in St. Charles.
Three bands played each show, vying to reach the final battle and the twelfth slot at iFEST. On Saturday, July 26, 2008 The Pit held the final show where the winning band was chosen from among the finalists by fan balloting and judging.
The dates of The Pit shows were:
- Wednesday, July 16 - three bands
- Wednesday, July 23 - three bands
- Saturday July 26 – FINAL Battle – for twelfth slot at i-FEST
Notes Program Director Ken Williams, “As one of the country’s leading independent music sources, iChannel is proud to be sponsoring the biggest independent artist event of the summer here in St. Louis.” He adds, “The i-FEST event will provide the best Independent Artists the chance to showcase their talent in a professional concert format, and at one of the larger concert venues in the St. Louis area.” “i-FEST is also a chance to help further the unification of the St. Louis Music scene. All bands going to i-FEST will be offered a specially priced ticket and credentials stating that they are a part of the Independent Artist Movement in St. Louis.
Tickets for i-FEST are $15.00 in advance of the concert starting July 11, and will be $17.00 at the door. A special internet pre-sale begins on Tuesday July 8th at 5pm CST and will run through Friday, July 11th. Pre-sale tickets for i-FEST go for $10 each and are available online at www.ichannel.fm.
iChannel is asking fans coming to i-FEST to bring any non-perishable dry or canned goods for donation to the charitable organization "Live Feed" (www.livefeed.org) to support their effort to collect food for the needy.
