Powertech Ready To Release Next Generation

Hong Kong Electronics Fair, China - October 8, 2008 - Powertech Industrial Co., Ltd, one of the early HD Radio module providers, announced today that they will release evaluation samples of the next generation HD Radio module, which uses Samsung’s SHDR100A/C200A chipset. The new Powertech module, HDR-2000D, is fully pin and size compatible to their previous version HD Radio module, HDR-1000C, which is based on the iBiquity Digital’s 1181 module specification. Certification of the new Powertech module is pending.

Powertech’s current HDR-1000C module is based on the Texas Instrument DRi352 chipset. Earlier this year, Powertech began development of the HDR-2000D next generation module using the new Samsung EM SHDR100A/C200A chipset.

Jeff Jury, COO, iBiquity Digital Corporation, stated: “Powertech continues to rapidly respond to the needs of the market. By developing a module that retains pin and size compatibility while integrating the next generation Samsung chipset, Powertech has created a compelling product offering.”

Sam Sheu, Director, Powertech Industrial stated: “All of the HD Radio receiver functions are duplicated on the next generation HDR-2000D module. Receiver manufacturers can easily use this module to develop their next generation HD Radio receivers with minimum board redesign effort. In addition, this module is compatible with iBiquity Digital’s 1181 specification, can be mounted horizontally or vertically and fills the need for receiver manufacturers to continue using their current layouts for existing HD Radio product offerings.”
