HD Radio At-A-Glance

More than 1,100 AM and FM radio stations, available to approximately 80% of the U.S. population, are using HD Radio technology to transmit digital audio and data to their listeners.  Beyond delivering dramatically improved sound quality over analog, digital HD Radio technology allows stations to expand their programming via HD2 multicast channels.  Over 500 stations today are using HD2 channels to broadcast fresh new music and news formats, showcase young artists and local bands, air non-English language programming, and more.  Other HD Radio applications include scrolling text and graphics content on receiver display screens and delivery of real-time traffic updates.  HD Radio receivers are available from nearly 20 manufacturers at retail outlets across the county.
