Kwang Sung Electronics Ready To Release Two Next Generation HD Radioâ„¢ Modules with Samsung Chipset
Shenzhen, China – October 10, 2008 – Kwang Sung Electronics H.K. Co. Limited (Kwang Sung Electronics, KSE), one of the early HD Radio module providers, announced today that they will release evaluation samples of the next generation HD Radio module, which uses Samsung’s SHDR100A/C200A chipset.
The new KSE modules, KSM-H4101 and KSM-H5101 will be the first Samsung chipset based modules that will offer receiver manufacturers the option of having a host micro on the modules for greater production flexibility. The KSM-H5101 will have a built-in host micro for receiver manufacturers that are looking for a drop-in replacement for previous versions of Texas Instruments DRi352 based modules. The KSM-H4101 and KSM-H5101 are available in both horizontal and vertical configurations. Certification of the new KSE module is pending and mass production is scheduled for late October 2008.
The KSM-H5101 will offer the ability to quickly integrate the Samsung chipset and offer receiver manufacturers the ability to use iBiquity Digital Corporation’s previously released SDK 1.12 command structure. KSE module also has the built-in functionality of having the ability to handle the command structure for iTunes® Tagging. The host micro on the module has the capability of communicating directly with Apple’s authentication chips and EEPROM for storage of ‘tags.’
Jeff Jury, COO of iBiquity Digital, said, “Kwang Sung Electronics identified an opportunity in the market to have created a drop-in module solution for existing manufacturers looking to transition from the current first generation modules with a minimal of amount of changes. By developing a module that retains pin and software compatibility while integrating the next generation Samsung chipset, Kwang Sung Electronics has created a compelling product offering.”
