General Motors Announces GMC Brand To Offer HD Radioâ„¢ Technology

  • What: General Motors announced this week that HD Radio Technology will be offered in the 2013 GMC Acadia. The HD Radio equipped vehicle made its North American debut during the GMC Press Conference at the Chicago Auto Show. The Acadia is the first GMC vehicle and the second General Motors brand to announce the launch of HD Radio Technology. Cadillac previously announced that HD Radio Technology will be standard on its new CUE system in the upcoming XTS and ATS models. The new GMC Acadia will arrive at dealerships by the end of 2012.
  • With this General Motors announcement, HD Radio Technology is or will be available as a factory installed feature from 23 automotive brands including Audi, Bentley, BMW, Cadillac, Ford, GMC, Hyundai, Jaguar, Kia, Land Rover, Lexus, Lincoln, Mazda, Mercedes-Benz, MINI USA, Porsche, Rolls-Royce, Scion, Subaru, Tesla, Toyota, Volkswagen and Volvo.
  • Why: Automakers are continuing to embrace HD Radio Technology at a rapid pace, offering consumers a variety of new and exciting stations in crystal-clear digital sound, including on-screen information that displays song titles and artist names, and the popular iTunes® Tagging feature which enables listeners to tag songs for later download and purchase through iTunes. The recently launched Artist Experience feature is also growing very quickly with Volkswagen being the first automaker to offer the feature on its new Premium VIII radio.
  • Today, there are over 2,300 AM & FM stations broadcasting with HD Radio Technology with more than 1,300 additional digital only FM HD2/HD3/HD4 multicast channels sending new exciting programming.
